Oh my god, I have so many feelings about this character. Which is totally crazy, because I didn't really care for him throughout the majority of my playthrough of Violet. But I'm getting ahead of myself... lemme walk you through my thought process, eh?
I went into Violet not thinking it was going to be anything special. I was certain it was just going to be your standard Pokemon adventure - the only other Pokemon games I've played are from Gen 3, so that's about as deep of a story as I was ready for. I played through most of the game at a pretty slow pace, so between the occasional bits of dialogue, I was really just goofing off, not paying too much attention to the story. That was, of course, until the plot brought me to the Great Crater of Paldea, and into Area Zero proper.
Holy crap, I did not expect the game to get as creepy as it did. The soundtrack for Area Zero was the first thing that gave me the creeps for sure, and that feeling only seemed to intensify as I went through disabling the locks in the Research Stations, reading notes along the way. It was awesome. But what really got me was this. This freaking part.
"I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry. Hello, children."
"I'm s-s-s-s-s-sorry. Sorry. S-s-s-s-s-sorry. I-I-I I-I-I’m sssssssssorrrrrrrrrrrr-rrrrrry-eeeeee— Hello, children. Hello. Hello."
"Hello, child. Childrenen. Childnen. Childeren. Children."
"...Initiating restart."
"Ah, ah, ɑh. Hel|o. Can you hear me now?"
"Please ffffvforgive my previous transmission. There seems to be some signal interference."
"... ... ... The locks have all been disabled at last. Please make your way now to the Zero Lab—which lies at the very bottom of Area Zero."
GODDDD. I freaking DIED. Listen, the tension was already through the roof, so when THAT happened, I was just like kJHSKDJHAKSJDAAAAAAA!!! GAHHH after I got over the unease, I immediately in love. Both with the game, and the character in general. Not to mention the whole battle following that...
The more he spoke the more I fell in love. What can I say? Turo (and AI Turo, but I'm classing them as one character for ease) fits multiple criteria for 'fictional character Ren would bang and/or smooch'. It goes like this:
- Be a man/or at least masculine
- Be an android/robot, or perhaps a cyborg
- ^ If robot, have glitchy/distorted speech
- Be an old man (or dilf, if you prefer)
- Not be necessarily EVIL, but like... have vibes
SEE WHAT I MEAN??? He's the ideal man. God.
Anyway, I also teared up like a little bitch at the end of the fight. For multiple reasons. One, finally being able to switch in Miraidon? Oh my god. Chef's kiss. The way that whole scene was done just straight up murdered me. Two, AAAUGUHGUAHGHUH AI TURO'S DIALOGUE WITH ARVENNNNN... THE PAIN, THE SUFFERING...
Soooo~ me losing my shit over a fictional character aside, since I'm a pathetic loser, I made AI Turo on Flight Rising. Dude's a freakin' 7-digit oldie as well. I am that committed to this stupid-ass Pokemon character. Halp meh--
Lightning primal had me dyiiiing... he's such a beautiful Impy. I WAS going to put one of the Lab Coats on him, but those are unfortunately buttoned, so I thought the best thing to do was give him a Mage Overcoat. Not the same thing, but it was a similar enough vibe.
Thanks for stopping by! While you're here, please take the time to appreciate these funnies I found involving the dear Professor.
